Mickey Mouse Birthday Party

Hi everyone! This weekend my baby James turned 2. Where has the time gone!?!? I can’t believe I have a full on toddler on my hands!

Ever since he was able to identify characters, Mickey Mouse has always had the key to James’ heart. I’m pretty sure the best day of his life was when he met Mickey earlier this year at Disneyland, don’t you think?

So, having a Mickey Mouse themed birthday party was a given, no question about it. I teamed up with Donna over at Swish Printables again (she also designed the printables for James’ 1st birthday party) to design some Mickey silhouette printables. I wanted a more vintage feel of a party, rather than the colorful Mickey Mouse Clubhouse theme. She was able to design my vision perfectly.

I can’t wait to walk through the party with you. All vendor information will be listed at the bottom if this post.

First off, the birthday boy! James was so excited to party! I ordered a “two” birthday shirt from the same vendor who made his “one” shirt from last year, and I love, love, LOVE how it turned out! It went with the theme beautifully and is a shirt that he can wear all year long.

Party decorations started as soon as the guests entered the door. I ordered some Mickey shaped cut outs off of Etsy in red, black, gray, and white and made a garland hanging from the front door.

When guests first walked into the party, they were greeted with a “We’ve Got Ears, Say Cheers” sign as well as a basket full of Mickey ears for each guest to wear at the party. They added a nice touch and were a party favor that everyone could take home with them. I loved seeing everyone being a good sport and getting into the theme of the party, especially my sister in law who brought her own set of sparkly Mickey ears 🙂

The banner was one of my favorite decorations of the party, I love how it turned out!

Donna also designed some food tents so I could label all the food, Disney themed of course 🙂

I also made some Mickey silhouette mason jar decorations that I found on Pinterest, they were so simple to do!

Finally, the dessert table!

I drew a Mickey silhouette onto black poster board and filled it in with a chevron stencil that I picked up at Michael’s.

The cake pops matched the red, black, and white theme and were in the birthday boy’s favorite flavor, chocolate. The tags that Donna designed tied in the theme perfectly.

And I loved using these gray chevron paper straws for the Mickey silhouette cake pops!

This was the first time I had used fondant to decorate a cake, but I found this design to be pretty simple. I love how it turned out. I found a couple of tutorials on Pinterest on how to make it in case you would like to make something similar!

This was also my first go around with chocolate covered oreos and pretzel rods. The oreos….oh my goodness, they were heavenly! I now know why these are starting to become so popular at parties these days, they were awesome!

Needless to say, it was hard keeping the birthday boy away from the dessert table. Thank goodness for the jump house outside to keep him occupied.

All in all, it was great party celebrated with family. The birthday boy had a blast, and it was so much fun to go from the planning stages of this party to seeing it become a reality. Thank you for helping celebrate James turning two! In the words of Mickey Mouse, thanks for stopping by 🙂

Pink and Black Wedding Cake Pops

This order was a very special one for a dear friend who was getting married. Melissa is one of my oldest friends (since kindergarden!), so I was honored when she asked if I would make cake pops for her upcoming wedding. The theme was hot pink, black, and bling. The cake pops were the wedding favor as well as place cards for the guests.

Here they are all ready to go the night before:

Don’t they go great with the decor? It all tied together perfectly.

Thanks for allowing me to be a part of the big day, and congrats to the wonderful couple! 🙂

Special Delivery :)

Hi everyone! Hope you all are enjoying your summer!

Someone finally made his appearance on June 21st 🙂

Say hello to James Maverick….

As you can imagine, we have been busy getting to know each other, getting in our cuddle times, and trying to get the hang of our new lives with a newborn. It’s been a hectic, exhausting, but wonderful time.

So in between juggling James and taking advantage of summer vacation with my family, I AM taking cake pop orders again. I’ve missed having those little pops in my life for the past month and a half 🙂

I have a couple of orders coming up that I can’t wait to share with you, and will be updating the blog tomorrow with some pops I did before my maternity leave. But feel free to contact me for any orders you have in mind; summer is still here and cake pops make some great tasty treats for your bbq’s and celebrations. 🙂

**Annoucement!** Maternity Leave

Hi everyone!

Just wanted to update everyone my status during my maternity leave. Little Baby J is due in the middle of June, so I will be taking off all of June to prepare for his arrival and get in as much cuddle time as possible while I recover.

So what does this mean for orders this summer? Here is my plan:

I will be taking orders as normal up until the end of May.

I will be taking off all of June.

July I will start taking orders again, but will take them on a first come, first serve basis, and will only take one or two orders at a time.

August I will resume taking on my normal orders.

So what does this mean for you? If you have an idea of an order for this summer, please contact me at sarahberchburns@gmail.com as soon as you can so I can pencil you in. This is especially important for July because I will be taking orders on a first come, first serve basis. So in order to ensure you getting a cake pop order this summer, please plan accordingly and get your orders in!

Thanks! 🙂
